RUF History
In 1939 Alois Ruf Senior founded his firm, ‘Auto RUF’, a general automotive and mechanical repair shop in Pfaffenhausen’s Mindelheimer Strasse, where it remains to this very day. In January 1950, his son Alois entered the world.
To this day RUF remains a unique manufacturer and continues to source Porsche ‘bodies-in-white’ directly from Porsche to produce bespoke hand-built sports cars with their own special characteristics. Each RUF car is built specifically to the owner’s requirements. This means that each car is very different from another and carries its own RUF chassis number.
RUF also remains one of the world’s distinguished provider of first-class, authentic Porsche restoration services for all types of Porsche vehicles.
OUR TIMELINE
The 650 BHP RT35 S is created with 650 BHP and the Integrated Roll Cage (IRC) as standard.
The hardcore CTR 3 ‘Clubsport’. 777 BHP. A king is born.
In 2012, RUF China is established.
RUF launch the RT-35, produced as a rear-wheel drive (rwd), bi-turbo charged sports car. See more RUF Automobiles history here.
The current 911 Turbo engine (997 series) is the first factory-equipped with a gasoline direct injection. We give the 911 Turbo a power boost to 620 hp. In a test of “Auto Bild Sportscars” he notes with measured 2.72 seconds in the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h a new editorial team record.
In 2011, RUF Thailand was established in Bangkok by Royal Motors.
The RT12 R is launched with a 3.8 litre 750 BHP power plant. Produced as a manual with an all-wheel-drive system.
The first RUF Dakara SUV’s are presented at the Motor Show in Geneva powered by a V8 turbo engine with 600 hp.
The much-loved RT12 sport car is revised to become the RT 12S – 35 hp more power, bigger spec as standard and RUF’s IRC is incorporated.
The successor to the eRUF Coupe, the eRUF Roadster debuts.
